Week 3 at Camp Vega: Adventures, Traditions, and Olympic Momentum
Week 3 brought an exciting chapter of the summer that flew by! Highlights outside of activities were filled with adventures beyond camp, unforgettable traditions, and Olympic competition that continues to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. As friendships grow stronger and confidence continues to blossom, campers strive to embrace every opportunity that Vega has to offer.

One of the biggest highlights of the week was our all-camp trip to Funtown/Splashtown USA. Campers spent a thrilling afternoon and evening enjoying roller coasters, water slides, games, and plenty of laughter with their friends (while we remained in touch with our weather team at camp!). Whether racing down slides, taking on their favorite rides, or simply enjoying the chance to experience the park together, it was a wonderful trip filled with smiles from beginning to end.
Our youngest campers also enjoyed a memorable outing of their own with a strawberry picking trip. Surrounded by the beauty of a Maine summer, the Sub Juniors spent the day filling baskets, sampling fresh berries, and sharing a simple experience that quickly became one of the week’s sweetest memories.
Back at camp, dancers had the opportunity to learn from guest choreographer Sean Green, who led energetic dance clinics across multiple styles. His creativity, enthusiasm, and encouragement inspired campers to challenge themselves while having a great time in the studio.
One of the things that makes every summer at Vega unique is the incredible variety of experiences taking place across camp. This week’s video captures just a glimpse of that—from the laughter of Old Lady Bingo, where campers dressed up as grandmothers complete with gray hair, glasses, and plenty of personality before gathering for a spirited game of bingo, to the intensity of athletic competition out on the soccer field. Whether performing on stage, competing in sports, creating art, or simply sharing laughs with friends, every camper finds opportunities to discover new interests and create lasting memories.
Olympics continue to bring excitement and a fun change of pace to camp as each competition adds another chapter to the story. White surged into the lead with an outstanding Junior Airband victory, demonstrating remarkable creativity and teamwork. Not to be outdone, Green answered back through strong performances in Senior Landsports and the Junior Swim Relays to reclaim the overall lead. However, the Olympic Advisors are still tabulating Senior Camp Tug-of-War, where White earned an impressive victory and proved once again that every event matters. Even though we’ve passed the halfway point in the summer, it’s anyone’s and everyone’s Olympics, and the anticipation from both teams continues to grow with each passing day.
As always, our Week 3 recap video offers a small window into the experiences that have made this week so special. We hope you enjoy and we look forward to seeing many of you this Friday for Visiting Day!
Safe travels,
The Vega Team
