Week 4 at Vega: Traditions, Teamwork, and the Heart of Summer

As we reached the halfway point of the summer, camp was buzzing with excitement. Week 4 was filled with some of Vega’s most beloved traditions, memorable trips, and countless moments that remind us why every day at camp is so special. From early morning races to Olympic competition, it was another week packed with adventure, laughter, and friendships.
One of the week’s signature events was the Vega Classic, our annual road race held on Lazy Sunday. Campers and staff who wanted an early start to the day gathered before breakfast to challenge themselves on the course. Junior Camp runners tackled the one-mile race, while Senior Camp runners took on the three-mile course. Whether crossing the finish line first or simply accomplishing a personal goal, the Vega Classic is a wonderful reminder that success looks different for everyone and that cheering each other on is just as important as the race itself.
Another favorite tradition was Derby Day, when brothers from neighboring Maine camps joined us for an afternoon of games and friendly competition. The day was filled with energy as campers participated together across camp, creating new friendships and sharing plenty of laughs. Some of this year’s biggest highlights included the always-popular dunk tank, our water zip line, and refreshing frozen treats from Sojourn Ice Co., which were a perfect way to cool off on a warm summer day.
Campers also enjoyed two fantastic trips away from camp. Our beach trip gave many girls the chance to spend the day along the beautiful Maine coastline, while others headed to Aquaboggan Water Park for a day of slides, pools, and nonstop fun. Congratulations to all of the campers who ventured into the Atlantic Ocean—an accomplishment that may have required just a little extra courage!
Back at camp, the fun never stopped. One of the things we love most about each weekly recap is that it captures not only the special events but also the everyday moments that make Vega what it is. A special thank you goes to our Media Team, whose hard work allows families to experience so many of these moments—from girls learning new skills in activities to spontaneous laughter with friends, exciting athletic competitions, and traditions that happen all across camp each day.
Olympics continue to provide incredible excitement as the competition remains remarkably close. This week, Green made a significant push by earning a big victory in Olympic Clean, closing the gap after White’s impressive Gold Rush victory. The video also includes a glimpse of one of the crowd favorites, Senior Camp Tug-of-War, where determination, teamwork, and camp spirit are always on full display. As we head into the final stretch of Olympics, White holds a slim 32-point lead, but with many major events still to come, every point matters and either team can still capture the championship.
As always, we hope you enjoy this week’s recap video and the opportunity to see another glimpse into the fun, friendships, and traditions that continue to make this summer unforgettable. The excitement continues to build, and we can’t wait to share what’s ahead in Week 5!
P.S. Sorry for the delay in posting this week’s recap blog!!
