Special Days & Celebrations

Some of the moments campers talk about most begin with a surprise announcement, a costume made with friends, or a familiar song. Vega’s special days bring everyone together in new ways, mixing favorite traditions with fresh ideas each summer.

A little unexpected fun

Summer Halloween brings costumes and playful activities to camp, while themed evenings and counselor shows give girls plenty of reasons to laugh together. Not every surprise needs explaining in advance—part of the fun is discovering it with your bunkmates.

A chance to take the stage

Age-group plays, camper talent performances, and the gymnastics and dance shows give girls opportunities to share what they have been working on. Whether they are performing or cheering from the audience, campers help make these moments special for one another.

Cookouts and time together

Weather permitting, weekly cookouts take dinner outdoors to our campsites. Sharing a meal with your bunk and counselors creates a different rhythm: time to talk, enjoy the setting, and spend an evening together.

Celebrations that belong to everyone

The Birthday Banquet celebrates everyone’s birthday, including girls whose birthdays fall outside the summer. The Olympic Banquet brings Green and White together for the final results, and Final Banquet marks the close of the season. Themes, songs, and shared memories make each occasion its own.

Birthdays during camp have their own special touches, too. Read about the Birthday Sign, camper cake, and Lazy Sunday Breakfasts on Meals & Dining.
