Week 5 at Vega: Sharing Camp, Celebrating Talents, and an Olympic Race to the Finish
As another unforgettable week came to a close, campers enjoyed some of the most anticipated traditions of the summer. From welcoming families to camp, to showcasing hidden talents, to watching the Olympic competition tighten dramatically, Week 5 was filled with moments that reminded us just how quickly the summer has flown by.

The highlight of the week was Visiting Day, when parents, relatives, and friends joined us for a beautiful Maine Summer day at camp. With perfect weather from start to finish, campers had the opportunity to proudly show their families the places that have become their home away from home. Whether introducing a favorite counselors, demonstrating a new skill in an activity, or simply sharing lunch together by the lake, it was wonderful to see so many smiles as families experienced a day in the life of Vega.
Another favorite tradition captured on the video was Interpalooza, where our Inter campers took center stage with their annual “boy band” performances. Complete with creative choreography, costumes, and plenty of personality, the performances had the audience laughing and cheering throughout the evening. The fun continued with a variety of games that made for another memorable night for one of our most spirited age groups.
This week also featured the debut of our first-ever Olympic Aqua Ninja Warrior competition. Campers raced through an obstacle course built around our Aqua Park, climbing, balancing, splashing, and swimming as they competed against the clock for valuable Olympic points. It quickly became a favorite event and showcased not only athleticism, but determination, teamwork, and plenty of enthusiasm from both Olympic teams.
The week included our annual Talent Show, one of the most impressive displays of camper creativity each summer. Girls who had spent weeks practicing took the stage to perform everything from singing and dancing to gymnastics, instrumental performances, comedy, and other unique acts. It was another wonderful reminder that Vega is a place where campers are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.
The three oldest age-groups, Seniors through Tamary, headed out on their extended overnight trips. The highlight shared from those trips on this weekly recap video is certainly that from Tamary jetboating on the St. Lawrence River outside on Montreal!
Meanwhile, for those of you looking for an Olympic update: they have taken another dramatic turn. In between the week 4 recap and just before this was written, White had built a commanding triple-digit lead, putting them in an excellent position heading into the final week of competition. But Olympics always have a way of reminding us that anything can happen. Last Sunday, Green delivered a clutch performance in the Olympic Relay, cutting White’s lead all the way down to just 7 points. With the competition now tighter than ever, all eyes turn to one of the most cherished Olympic traditions: Olympic Sing. The team that captures the Sing is certain to capture the Olympic championship as well, setting the stage for an unforgettable finish to another incredible summer.
As always, we hope you enjoy this week’s recap video and the opportunity to see some of the moments that make camp so special. With just one week remaining, we’re looking forward to making every moment count as we finish Summer 2026 together.
