Staff Orientation Recap
The Summer Starts with Staff
Before the first campers step off the bus, Camp Vega comes alive with the energy, intention, and preparation during an 8 day (minimum) Staff Orientation. This is when the staff team learns that we are all integral to the success of every member of the summer community—and when the magic behind the scenes begins to shine.

Highlights from the Week:
- Over 200 staff from throughout the US and around the world arrived over the course of the last few weeks, and 70 of the staff got their first glimpse of Vega 2025.
- Ice breakers, department training, and age group bonding laid the foundation for team connection.
- The Orientation Olympic Relay capped off the week with laughter, teamwork, and just a bit of healthy competition.
- A smattering of workshops and training sessions to give staff tools and info for the summer ahead.
- Vega Fire, s’mores, counselor skits, and our Opening Sunset Circle helped give everyone a glimpse into camp life.
Orientation Olympic Update:
Orientation Olympics brought the energy! The white team outpaced the green team in the Olympic relay race. Meanwhile, Tioga prevailed in Tug O’ War, our staff teams showed their true colors. We can’t wait to see that enthusiasm continue all summer long.
Spotlight – The Staff Trainers
Both of our staff training specialists received exceptional feedback from staff! Dr. Tracy Brenner shared her insight on the emotional needs of campers and counselors alike—reminding everyone of the power of empathy and preparation. True to Life Training also delivered powerful sessions on real-world communication and teamwork, immersing our staff in staged scenarios outlining the responsibility and impact of working with children in a fast-paced, high-trust environment.
