Pickleball Post Pt 2, from Linda and Michael!
As we continue to celebrate our shared history through Vega’s 90th summer culminating at the alumni reunion in late August, we are excited for the first official year of Pickleball at Vega! We feel it’s a sport that embodies the same spirit of community and energy that has defined Camp Vega for decades. This fast-paced, accessible game is designed for everyone, and it seems about 20% of campers are planning on Pickleball being in their schedule for the first half of the summer!
The Benefits of the Game
Pickleball is more than just a trend; it is a powerhouse for personal well-being and campers can expect to see improvements across several key areas of health:

- Physical Conditioning: The game provides a fantastic cardiovascular workout that improves agility, reflexes, and balance without the high-impact stress of other sports.
- Mental Sharpness: The fast-paced nature of the game requires strategic thinking and quick decision-making, keeping the mind engaged and focused.
- Social Connection: True to the Camp Vega tradition, pickleball is inherently social. It’s a “doubles-focused” sport that fosters teamwork, laughter, and new friendships on and off the court.
- Mood Elevation: Engaging in regular play releases endorphins, reducing stress and leaving you energized for the rest of your week.
Join the Movement! 😀
We have created a new space where competition meets camaraderie, and are so excited to help give everyone a chance to participate for what has been the fastest growing sport in the United States for the past 3 years!
We can’t wait to see everyone at camp, and hopefully on the courts too!!

P.S. Kids and staff: if you have a paddle, we encourage you to bring it!
