The Magic of Varna, Vega’s Tooth Fairy (and more)!
Every summer, when the Vega Star rises above Echo Lake and the fireflies begin their nightly dance, a touch of magic sparkles in the air. That magic, of course, comes from none other than Varna, Camp Vega’s very own tooth fairy.
For decades, campers have whispered about Varna—her shimmering purple robe, her joyful laugh, and her unwavering commitment to all things Vega. But it’s during our evening campfires and bedtime traditions that Varna truly comes to life. Each summer, Linda shares the detailed, heartfelt history of Varna’s adventures, from her early days fluttering through the pines of the Lakes Region in Maine to the time she mistakenly delivered a pinecone instead of a prize (don’t worry, she made up for it with double Varna dust the next night!).
What makes Varna so special isn’t just her glittering presence—it’s how she loves helping Vega campers. This year, the Camper Council made a very important request: they asked Varna to share something a little crispy, a little sweet, and a lot Vega. And Varna heard them loud and clear.

So this summer, we’re thrilled to announce the return of Crispy Varna Bars—a crispy, chocolatey irresistible treat that will once again be part of Varna’s treasure trove in Vegabondia. Whether you’ve just lost a tooth, lent a helping hand, or shown a moment of courage and kindness, you just might find a Crispy Varna Bar waiting for you as a reward from our favorite winged friend.
As Linda always says, Varna reminds us that magic lives in the little things—moments of generosity, bravery, and connection. We can’t wait to see how she continues to inspire joy and wonder all summer long.
So keep your eyes peeled, Vegans. Varna is awaiting the campers’ return and ready to sprinkle a little magic (and maybe some crispy chocolatey goodness) your way!

A fairy believer who i spoke to in Ireland, said he had heard of Varna of Vegabondia who lives under a tree by a lake that’s called Echo Lake! You can imagine my surprise that Varna is known outside of the country!
I was so honored to meet Eddie, who is a story teller in Ireland and is a big fan of fairies!
