Last year was my first year and it made me realize that I have never had a better summer in my life, made so many true friends and learn to do new things that I love. I am so happy I go to vega because I love it and if I never went there I wouldn't have my true best friends. When I think of going to vega this summer I get so excited I can't put it into words. I'm 10 and the 1 summer I've gone to vega was the best summer of y life and i will never forget it. I am going back there for my whole entire life! I love vega so much that i talk about it so much and my friends from home can almost describe how it looks, all the activities, and the memories i share with them. I LOVE VEGA! It is this motto that inspired me to look back at my own camp experience and choose Vega for my daughter. While some of the "campiness" of the 60s and 70s has dissappeared, many Vega traditions are kept alive by both campers and counselors (many of whom are ex-campers.) I am finding more alum sending their girls -- empowering them to become strong, confident, active, self-aware individuals. Inspiration comes from staff who are more than experts in their area of interest. Staff are given the gift of professional development... They, too, grow and learn how to become leaders and followers. Vega continues to encourage girls to be the best individuals, bunkmates, teammates, and citizens of the world that they can be. The physical plant is simply beautiful. I have never been anywhere that makes me so happy and feel so comfortable about who I am and who my friends are. If I had the choice I would go to Vega forever. I think what really makes Vega so special for me is the amount of friendships that I have formed over all of my summers at Vega and the number of skills I have learned during the best seven weeks of my entire year. Water skiing has become one of my favorite activities to do whether at Vega or outside of Vega (even though I love doing it best on Echo Lake) and my first time water skiing was at Vega. It is truly amazing for me to think back on how I did not know anything about water skiing and how I so quickly learned my passion for the activity. The friendships that I formed during my summers at Vega are unlike any other friendships I have ever had and I would truly call my Vega friends my sisters. I think what makes Vega so special is that even though I leave my mom and dad at home for such a long period of time, I know that the second I arrive in Maine at the end of June I will walk into the arms of another family that is just as loving and caring. I can't express how much I owe to Vega for everything I have experienced and for the millions of ways that Vega continues to impact my life every single day. I miss you so much Vega!!! Nothing can ever compare to Vega. It is my summer home because you get so close to everybody, that they feel like your family. It is so safe and cozy, that you feel at home!
